The Elite Team of Ultrasound Practitioners was first established in 2007 by Hamid Tahmasebpour to respond to immediate needs of patients for diagnostic ultrasound in the rural areas of the British Columbia. The mission was to provide diagnostic ultrasound services to those patients who needed immediate treatment but they have been waiting for months for an ultrasound exam. Our Elite Team members may work one regular week per month, or 2 weekends per month, or a combination of both depending on the availability and time flexibility. We do not allow our team members work full time on a regular job and work on our Elite Team more than 1 weekends per month. Our Team members work extremely hard to function as ultrasound practitioners and, therefore, they are paid a fair salary as ultrasound practitioners not ultrasound technicians. In addition to the salary, we also cover the cost of travel and accommodation. 

Who is an Elite Sonographer?

The minimum requirements for an Elite Sonographer are:

• a current member of CARDUP or ARDMS,
• a current member of CSDMS with liability insurance, 
• ablity to perform diagnostic ultrasound services accurately, thoroughly, consistently, efficiently and independently,
• competent to perform general, OB/Gyn (including EV), small parts (breast, scrotum, neck, abdominal wall hernias), vascular (carotid, DVT), and/or MSK, and/or cardiac ultrasound according to the CARDUP guidelines and our protocols,
• capable of performing an average of 3 elective ultrasound exams per hour, for example an abdomen, a thyroid, and a pelvis with or without EV,
• Familiar with most ultrasound equipment especially Philips IU22, ATL 5000 and Siemens Antares or Sequoia.
